Chirundu council’s developmental strides hailed

A youth activist in Chirundu has hailed the district council for improving the road network and lighting up the streets.

Mwangala Kawana said the improved road network would enable businessmen easily transport their goods and generally help boost the economic activities in the district.

Mr Kawana however advised the local authority to use standard construction materials to enable the roads last longer.

“The rains have stopped and this is now a good time for the authorities to undertake remaining road works without disturbances,” he said.

Mr Mwangala appealed to the council to also engage stakeholders to sensitize community on the advantages of erecting standard buildings.

He said that Chirundu district was steadily growing steadily hence the need for people to erect good structures with enough room provided for access roads, drainages, power lines, among others.

Mr Mwangala appealed to the district council to quickly repair the Ibbwemunyama Road, leading to the farming block, which he said was in a bad state.

He described Ibbwemunyama Ward as an area of strategic economic importance because it was the main maize farming hub of the district.

He said it was high time the government worked on the road to enable the farmers easily move their produce to the market.

“Government should in future setting up a milling plant at Ibbwemunyama,” he said.
