President Lungu encourages prisons to farm

President Edgar Lungu has challenged the Zambia Correctional Service to continue with efforts that will contribute massively to the country’s food security.
President Lungu says government is looking up to the Zambia Correctional Service to feed the country and the region at large through their engagement in agricultural activities.
President Lungu said this when he toured Mukuyu Correctional farm in Kabwe today, run by the Zambia Correctional Service.
He says agriculture is key to the country’s growth hence the need for concerted efforts to improve the country’s food security.
President Lungu says he is impressed with the efforts by the service in ensuring that the country had enough food security.
And Minister of Home Affairs Stephen Kampyongo has appreciated men and women in uniform for the great job they were doing to contribute to the growth of the agriculture sector.
Mr. Kampyongo says the service should continue to work tirelessly to ensure that it contributes to the country’s food basket.
And Zambia Correctional Service Commissioner General Chisela Chileshe says the men and women in uniform will play a critical role in ensuring that Zambia becomes the food basket in Africa.
