Zambia in K 309 million trade deficit

Zambia has recorded a trade deficit of K309.0 million in February 2019 from the trade surplus of K938.0 million recorded in January 2019.

This means that exports of intermediate goods decreased by 21.5 percent resulting in a trade deficit.

Central statistics acting director Goodson Sinyenga says traditional exports earnings also decreased by 24.5 percent from K6.6 million in January 2019 to K4.9 million in February 2019.

Meanwhile non-traditional exports increased by 13.3 percent from K1.7 million in January 2019 to K1.9 million recorded in February 2019.
