PF displaces UPND in Kafue by election

The Patriotic Front PF has won the just ended Kafue Council Chairperson by election that was contested by only two political parties.

Final results show the PF candidate, retired Brig. Gen. Moono Simakoloyi got 9,252 votes while his closest rival UPND candidate Kayuni Beatrice got 8,650.

The Kafue Council Chairperson by election was necessitated by the resignation of the incumbent Thomas Zulu from the UPND who resigned to join the Patriotic Front.

This was after Mr. Zulu was suspended from the UPND for attending the keep Zambia clean, green and health cleaning exercise that was officiated by President Edgar Lungu.

Kafue has about 62, 685 registered voters and 59 polling stations in total.
