Decisively deal with perpetrators of violence – Lungu

Written by on March 28, 2019

President Edgar Lungu says he expects decisive police action to bring to book all perpetrators of yesterday’s violence that characterized the Kafue Council Chairperson by election.

Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda in a statement says President Lungu also regrets that some supporters of the opposition UPND have been arrested for possession of offensive weapons linked to yesterday’s violence.

Mr. Chanda says President Lungu says those who think violence will get them into government were mistaken because majority of people reject such liberal values.

And President Lungu has congratulated the PF on the victory in yesterday’s Kafue Council Chairperson by election and has further instructed the Secretary General to ensure none of the party youths are ferried into campaign areas to commit violence.

President Lungu reiterates that violence will not be tolerated in any election for as long as he remains President.
