A woman has sued her ex-boyfriend, a retired soldier, to demand for a share of his pension on behalf of her children.

Catherine Mwale, 43, of Lusaka West, told Chelstone Local Court senior presiding magistrate Charity Milambo and magistrate Kennedy Mwansa Mutale, that she would Damson Kabeya, 55, of Chongwe, to give her part of his pension so she could build a house for the children.

“He hasn’t been supporting the children and now that he has retired and has money, I want him to look after his kids,” she said.

“All I am asking for, is that he provides shelter for the children before the money vanishes,” she stated.

Ms Mwale told court that ended her relationship with Mr Kabeya, with whom she has two children, after she discovered he was married.

“He hasn’t been supporting his kids,” Ms Mwale said.

But in his defense, Mr Kabeya explained that he could not give her the share of the cash she was claiming because most of his money had already been invested in business.

He requested that she takes the children to his house so that they could meet and get to his other children.

“I know it was wrong for me to have a relationship outside my marriage but I have apologized to my wife and she has forgiven me. She has also agreed to keep my children,” he stated.

Hearing of the case was adjourned to a later date.
