Muslim leader welcomes John Laing clinic

A local Muslim leader says construction of a clinic in John Laing Compound will help improve health services for the people in the area.

Zambia Muslim Society (ZMS) chairman man, Ismail Phiri, having a clinic in the compound will stop people from walking long distances to Kanyama and Chawama level one hospitals.

Speaking in an interview with The Sun, Mr. Phiri said the Muslim society’s decision to construct the John Laing clinic is aimed at supplementing government efforts.

“Once the construction of the health facility is complete, it will also help decongest Kanyama and Chawama level one hospital,” he said.

He explained that new health centre will have a treatment centre, a maternity wing, a laboratory, a registry, and an admission ward among others.

He said the clinic, which is at roof level, will be handed over to government to manage once complete.
