A LUSAKA man who went away with house keys when the landlord wanted to rent out the house, has lost his bid for a refund of K700 rentals.

Eunice Sakala, 49, a business woman of Garden was sued for refund of K700 rent by John Mwansa,63, driver also of Garden compound.

Mwansa explained that in June 2018, he paid his landlord K700 to rent the house.

Mwansa said after two days he was transferred to another place for work and could not rent the house anymore.

The two were appearing before senior local court magistrate Martha Tembo.

In her defense, Sakala refused to refund the money because she was inconvenienced when her tenant went away with the house keys for three months.

“I only managed to rent out the house when the tenant brought the keys to me after three months,” Sakala said.

“The tenant kept giving me excuses on when they would shift into the house. My house stayed without business for three months,” Sakala said.

The court dismissed the matter Saying that the tenant had taken long to return the keys to the house when he knew he was not going to rent the house.
